CQC will want to check that staffing levels are adequate and the right checks have been done to ensure staff are fit and proper to work in a care setting to ensure the safeguarding criteria are being met.“Fit and proper staff” are defined under Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014: Regulation 19: Fit and proper persons employed (CQC). Staff members must have completed training and have regular refresher training, so they are fully competent to do their tasks. To qualify the home for obtaining a high grading standard, key skills obtained by the staff must be met. Staff members should receive an introduction, training, and supervision they need to deliver safe and efficient care. Having the appropriate number of staff to assist the residents will promote a pleasant and safe living environment for the residents. Homes attaining high grading standards will always come down to the staff, how the processes are managed, and how the residents feel about the care they are receiving. A registered manager who has registered with the Care Quality Commission will oversee the service at the care facility. The Health and Social Care Act of 2008 and related Regulations provide legal obligations on registered people to comply with those laws regarding how the service is conducted.

This includes Moving and Handling, Infection and Prevention Control, Equality and Diversity, Fire Safety, Privacy and Dignity, Fluids and Nutrition, Life Support, and Safeguarding Adults and Children, among others. Additionally, for professions requiring specific qualifications or further training, we ensure candidates possess the necessary credentials.
